Rousanne
Dry Creek Valley, Certified Organic
2006, Sold Out

The Wine
This varietal is beyond exotic. Tropical notes of vanilla, mango and nutmeg support ripe melon and pear fruit. The finish is a racy melding of creamy lushness with the edgy tingle of minerals and citrus. This wine is not your granny's Chablis.

The Vines
Slender vines cling to cobbley, silty river-wash, an area known for low crops and ultimate ripeness. We chose the varietal to complement and complete our menu of Rhône-sourced flavors; the grafting wood came to us from Tablas Creek Winery, a California sibling of Chateau de Beaucastel in the Rhône Valley. Ours are young vines with the wisdom of the ages

Thought for Food
This unctuous wine wants a sweet/savory flavor balance. Moroccan squab tagine with bits of dried apricot, Indian dal curry with pickled ginger-chile, seared scallops in lemon grass. Alice-in-wonerland ideas for you to explore.
